Life Coaching for Young Adults and Teenagers

"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."
Marcus Aurelius

What is coaching for Young People?

At the heart of coaching, is the belief that we all have the solutions to our problems within us, we just need a bit of help with the solving part. A bit of extra support when facing life’s challenges. Coaching is about disrupting the way that we sometimes view ourselves and the world. It is about embedding more positive thinking. It is about looking forwards. Coaching is a powerful and engaging conversation.

Together we work collaboratively focused on the things that you want or discovering what that might look like. My role as a coach is to guide and facilitate, working with individuals (or groups) over a number of weeks to unpick and untangle existing ideas and stories, to challenge and then help re-write them with exciting, purposeful and tangible actions.

How does this help?

When we transition into the next stages of our lives, whether it’s further education, life after school or university, or our first job, we can feel overwhelmed by pressure and choice. Coaching helps by making problems no longer seem so complex. Goals seem more achievable. Opportunities become clearer. Decision making becomes easier. You get to know yourself much better and gain both insight and more self- awareness.

This contributes to overall improved well-being and a boost to confidence and self-esteem. Things that once seemed daunting or impossible feel easier to obtain and grasp.

What does it involve?

In order for this to work you definitely need to be ready for some kind of change, even on the smallest level. I provide a challenging yet supportive and fun environment (a sense of humour definitely helps!). We establish a work practice tailored to you, in which we explore and discover. Having a coach is like having someone stand on the sidelines ready to cheer you on at every moment whilst we work together. It is a time focused entirely on you and your personal growth and I offer you a dedicated space for that.

Having worked for 10 years in drama, education, and the arts, I see so much value in being creative and experimenting artistically.  Coaching is another way of doing that but with life-changing effects.

How do I deliver it?

I offer both one-to-one and group coaching both to private clients and organisations. Coaching can take place both face-to-face and via Skype.

At University our son started to experience depression, self-doubt and was unable to motivate himself. With our son being so far away we felt quite helpless and didn’t know how we could support him. Kata came highly recommended and after a Skype conversation we put the two in touch. With Kata’s support and guidance he is now in his final year and on track to getting a 2:1. Kata is personable, yet professional, grounded, eminently approachable and an excellent listener. She has an extraordinary ability to combine empathy with practical and positive guidance. From a parents’ perspective we are so grateful to Kata. We can always tell when he’s had a session with her as he seems fired up with renewed optimism. Thank you Kata.
